Description: ENVO (or UBERON in case the term is not present in ENVO) term describing the sample material. At the moment, ENVO does not contain all necessary terms to describe the material, e.g. terms for caecal material are missing. We are aware that this means that for many host-associated samples, the annotated terms do not fit completely, e.g. annotating "caecum" in the case of actually sampled caecal matter is only a workaround. We hope that a change in ENVO could help, and might also add a new free-text field with the sampled material to cover more rare cases that are not in the ontology, like for example "broncho-alveolar lavage fluid".
